I first started practicing yoga at age 12 after being diagnosed with mild scoliosis. The doctor recommended I stretch every day. There were no yoga classes I knew of in my rural town in North Carolina, but my grandmother gave me a book on yoga and I practiced regularly.
I fell in love with yoga right away. It made me feel more aware and connected, and I enjoyed the movements and breathing techniques (pranayana). Lion’s breath was a childhood fave!
I lost my practice for a while and came back to it sporadically in my 20s. In my 30s I started a regular practice which I found to be healing, calming, and transformative. My life is infinitely better with yoga.
In 2015, I traveled to Dharamshala in Northern India and completed a yoga teacher training. In 2018, I studied with Jivana Heyman and became certified to teach Accessible Yoga.
I now live in the Catskills in New York and teach Vinyasa Flow, Gentle Yoga, and Chair Yoga. I believe that everyone can practice yoga, and I love helping people find the right practice for themselves and their bodies.
When I’m not on my mat or meditation cushion, I enjoy writing, hiking, and playing drums.
